The Hopkinton High School Model United Nations club has attended two very prestigious conferences this spring at MIT and UMass. MITMUNC is an international Model UN conference with over 500 students from South Korea, Russia, China, India, and across the United States. UMassMUN is one of the most highly regarded conferences in the region. The quality of preparation, enthusiasm and level of debate from the Hopkinton students at each these conferences were incredible.

Based on individual performances, nine Hopkinton students were recognized for excellence by MITMUNC, and 14 were recognized by UMassMUN. At each conference, the following awards are presented to delegates from each committee: best delegate (highest honor), outstanding delegate, honorable mention, and verbal commendation. Although winning awards is not our goal in attending conferences, it is fantastic these students were recognized for their remarkable accomplishments.

In addition, the Hopkinton Model UN club won the Best Large Delegation award at UMassMUN! All of our students earned points during debate for our delegation—not just students who won individual awards—so this award truly belongs to all 25 students who attended the conference! This is the fifth year in a row that Hopkinton has won a delegation award at UMass.
