Hopkinton School Committee Wraps up 2010-11

Board members to receive updates from various organizations and give the Superintendent his yearend review.

The School Committee will hear reports from  the Hopkinton Education Foundation, the Hopkinton Parent Teacher Association, the Hopkinton Basketball Association and Parks & Recreation as it wraps up its meeting schedule for the school year Thursday night in the middle school library.

The committee also has a working session Wednesday night (tonight).

On Thursday, resident Glen Layton will present information about an exit poll conducted after the failed vote for a new school on Fruit Street.

Layton had previously reported to the School Committee that the poll results were similar to the percentages of the actual vote.  Of 561 people who chose to take the poll, 171 voted for the school while 391 or 70 percent voted against it.

Middle School Principal Alan Keller will present changes to the Hopkinton Middle School Program of Studies while High School Principal Alyson Geary will present the High School Program of Studies, the Student Handbook and the Athletic Student Handbook.

The School Committee will give Superintendent Jack Phelan his annual review at what will be his final School Committee meeting before his retirement on June 30.

The last item is to set the School Committee meeting schedule for the summer and next school year.
