Following the death of a Hopkinton eighth grader, the Hopkinton School District has provided a list of some of the symptoms of grief to look for in children age 11 to 18.

- •Withdrawal/isolation from peers
- •Problems with peers
- •Change in appetite
- •Loss of interest in activities/apathy
- •Rebelliousness or antisocial behavior
- •Generalized anxiety, agitation
- •Physical ailments (headaches, upset stomach)
- •Depression
- •Intrusive recollections
- •School failure
- •Distractibility and poor concentration
