Mission Possible Holliston has teamed up with the Fred W. Miller School Playground Committee to raise money to build a new playground at the Miller school.

The group has decided to donate proceeds from the 5th Annual Mission Possible 5K Road Race on November 4, 2012, to help build the new playground.

“This fits in with our mission and we are so excited to be helping Miller build it’s much-needed playground,” says Stephanie Collier, a Holliston resident and one of the original members of Mission Possible.

The current playground has served the students at Miller for just over seventeen years, which is  slightly over the average life expectancy for a playground. In addition, the playground needs to be brought up to current federal ADA accessibility standards.

After the successful fundraising and construction of the Goodwill Park playground completed in June of 2012, the Mission Possible group was looking for a new challenge says Collier.

Donald Gray, Chairman of the Miller School Playground Committee, is grateful for the support. “We are so excited that Mission Possible has decided to partner with us,” says Gray.

The current fundraising efforts have raised just over half of the needed $200,000.

“We are well on our way, the parents and families in Holliston have been so supportive of this project. They have opened their hearts and their wallets. But we still need to raise a significant amount of money,” says Gray. “We hope this 5K race will help us do that.”

The Mission Possible 5K Road Race and Kids Fun Run will take place at Holliston High School on November 4, 2012 at 10:30am. Interested runners can find out more information by going to Holliston5K.com.
