Bird-a-Thon Saturday

By Mary MacDonald

Weston Nursery in Hopkinton will hold a series of bird related workshops on Saturday.

Feeding Winter Backyard Birds, 10 a.m.: Backyard birds are such a joy all through the year. Learn which seeds and plants keep them happy, healthy and well-fed during the winter, year after year, whether they live here or are just passing through. Leave with a copy of our home-made suet recipes, and be sure to check out our great choices of seed and feeders. Led by Kathy Bergmann, MCH, Weston Nurseries Sales.

Birding for Kids with Mass Audubon, noon, Saturday: Hey! What Bird is That? Bring the kids! Birding expert and Master Gardener extraordinaire Kathi Gariepy is back to show them how fun it is to watch – and listen to – the birds in their back yards. Led by Kathi Gariepy, Coordinator of Education, Mass. Audubon Society.

Pine Cone Bird Feeders for Kids Workshop, 1:30 p.m.: Let Geoff Orbegoso show your kids how to make these treats for our bird friends this winter. They’ll have all the fun and you won’t have the mess! Fee: Free with prior registration. Space is limited. Intended for children 6 and up. Led by Geoff Orbegoso, Weston Nurseries Horticultural Sales.
