Readers Select Colella's Supermarket as Best Liquor Store

This week we asked patch readers for the best liquor store in town, with only two choices the poll stayed relatively even for most of the week before Colella's got a boost in the final stretch.

It's Friday, and it's been a long week. You get out of work at 5 and you just want to go home, and relax with a nice cold drink. Where would you stop to pick up your favorite alcohol? For most Hopkinton Patch readers the answer is Colella's Supermarket right in the middle of downtown. Perhaps the reason many voters picked Colella's is because the store has been in town for so long, maybe it's because everyone in town knows Dale Danahy, but we would venture to say it's because you can pick up everything you need for the night. Hopkinton State Park Wins Best Staycation Spot

Find out what makes the 1,400 acre state park a favorite of readers in the MetroWest area.

In the first region-wide Best of Patch Readers' Choice contest we pitted local places where families could take a trip on the cheap. Staycations have been something that families turn to during economic downturns in order to save money. The focus of a stacation is to spend time with family like you would on a vacation, but while staying home. Everyone gets cabin fever sometimes though and because of that we wanted to help you get feedback from other Patch readers about where they like to go during their staycations. Hopkinton State Park also houses Boating in Boston, a boat and kayak rental place. Tomorrow (5/13), all mothers can go kayaking for free (1 hour free rental of a single kayak) in celebration of Mother's Day. Boating in Boston's boat house is open from 10am-7pm. My favorite thing to do at the park is rent a kayak, paddle over to one of the islands, and go for a swim!   more ›

Big Chains Win Best Place for Sporting Goods

In a poll consisting of out-of-town businesses, two major retailers came out on top.

It was a close race for the best place to buy sports equipment, with all of the votes split between three businesses. Both Target and Sports Authority tied for first place, with both of the businesses being relatively close to Hopkinton. Sports Authority has a great selection of equipment for all sports, Target has the basic sports needs along with any other purchase you could be looking to make. Next week, we'll be asking where the best place to get coffee in Hopkinton is.
