1. Solarize Hopkinton Extended: It was announced over the weekend that the Solarize program offered through the Mass. Clean Energy Center has ben extended through the end of October. It's Yom Kippur which means Hopkinton and Holliston students are out of school for the day. Here are some things to do to keep the kids busy.
1. Go to the Park: The weather looks fine for most of the day, but morning showers and evening thunderstorms may put a damper on the day. If the sun stays out today may be one of the last chances you have to head to the State Park in Hopkinton or Stoddard Park in Holliston . 2. Apple Picking: If you're looking for something a little more seasonal, check out Highland Farm to pick your own apples. Here's a list of other places to pick your own apples. 3. Read a Book: Today could be a great day to read a book. Kids might have homework to do or maybe they even need to finish their summer reading. 1. Celebrate Holliston: Tomorrow is the big day! The parade starts at 9 a.m. at the Placentino School, and the field day events start at 10 a.m. at Goodwill Park. Enter in the Pumpkin Decorating Contest, try the chili and listen to some local music. Patch Editors including Sean O'Donnell and Justin Saglio will be around taking pictures, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't take your own. 1. Regional Dispatch Voted Down: At last night's meeting, the Holliston Board of Selectmen voted to "respectfully decline" to join a regional dispatch center for emergency services. After a lengthy process it was determined there would be so much upfront cost that it would not be a viable option. They are looking in to other ways to cut redundancies throughout town. 2. Yard Sales For Local Groups: Do you want to get rid of some of your old stuff, but not quite have enough for a yard sale? Donate your goods and help support local groups.
