Letter To The Editor

LETTER: Jean Bertschmann Doesn't Sit Back, She Gets Involved

Hopkinton Patch welcomes Letters to the Editor supporting candidates in the upcoming town elections. We will do everything th make sure all letters that are submitted by May 17. We will not run any letters on the day of the election. Letters can be submitted to sean.odonnell@patch.com. My name is Mary Murphy and I am supporting Jean Bertschmann for School Committee because she is a hard worker and has a wealth of history and knowledge about the Hopkinton schools. With 4 children (often spanning one in each school), she didn’t just sit back and watch things happen- she got involved! I worked with Jean when we both served on the HHS School Council. I have observed her to be a level headed, thoughtful leader. She has a quiet way of listening …

Letter: Jean Bertschmann for School Committee

A Hopkinton resident that has worked with Bertschmann over the past decade wants to see the current chairman re-elected.

Submitted by Maura McNamara I am witting to endorse Jean Bertschmann for re-election for School Committee. I have known Jean for over ten years. We met when our daughters were in kindergarten together. She has been a friend and someone I have worked with in several capacities over the years. I was able to see Jean in action as she led the HPTA. She was forwardthinking, innovative, approachable and very dedicated. She attended all the events, whether she needed to or not, just to show her support. I became active with the SPEAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council) board and have been the liaison to the School Committee. I always found Jean willing to listen and advocate for all Hopkinton school children. Jean is very intelligent, a …

Submitted by Jon Graziano My name is Jon Graziano, and I am running for School Committee. My wife, Erin, and I moved to Hopkinton two years ago.   As the parents of three young children (ages 6, 4 and 1), one of the primary reasons we were attracted to the town was the school system, and our experience so far has validated that decision. Over the past year I have been the Appropriations Committee liaison to the School Committee. This role has enabled me to see and appreciate not only the reasons why our schools perform so well compared to other school districts, but also the unprecedented challenges our town faces to maintain our high standards in tight financial times. The strategic plan addresses our goals to enable Hopkinton to continue…
