Hopkinton Landscaper Sentenced For Tax Fraud
The man will face 15 months in prison for filing false tax returns.
According to a release from the United States Department of Justice, William A. Reinertson, 52, was sentences to 15 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to four counts of filing false tax returns in August. U.S. District Judge Denise J. Casper sentenced Reinertson to 15 months in prison to be followed by one year of probation. Reinertson was also ordered to pay more than $100,000 in back taxes owed to the IRS. According to the Department of Justice, Reinertson and his wife filed joint returns and submitted false W-2s claiming that the landscaping and construction businesses Reinertson operated withheld more than $200,000 in federal income taxes from wages paid to each of them and claimed they were entitled to tax refunds.
