Police Log: Holliston Man Charged With Drug Possession, OUI

The following information was supplied by the Holliston police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, May 15 11:32 a.m.: A Travis Road resident reported $100 was stolen from her unlocked vehicle overnight. Her wallet was not taken. 5:36 p.m.: An ambulance transported two injured people to Milford Hospital after a motor vehicle crash on Concord Street.  8:24 p.m.: A caller told police a vehicle was driving erratically down Washington Street. Police received a second call saying the vehicle had crossed into Ashland. After stopping the vehicle, Ashland police arrested John Rizoli, 61, of 23 Copper Lane in Holliston and charged him with operating under the influence of drugs, possession of class A drugs, and operating with a revoked license.

UPDATE: Hopkinton Woman, Daughter Both OK

They have been released from the hospital and are doing well, friends say.

UPDATE: People who identified the car of a woman and her daughter who were hit head-on on Rte. 135 Monday said both mom and daughter have been released from the hospital and are doing OK.   One man was taken by Lifeflight helicopter to an advanced trauma center in Boston and a Hopkinton woman and her daughter were sped to UMass Medical Center in Worcester after a serious accident Monday afternoon. The rescues followed a head-on crash just over the Hopkinton line in Ashland on West Union Street (Rte. 135) around 2:30 p.m. Lt. Richard Briggs said Ashland Police are investigating what caused a 54-year-old Longmeadow man to lose control of his late-model Ford F-150 pickup truck, cross the double-yellow line and strike an oncoming westbound car…

Ashland Lions Triathlon Winds Through Hopkinton

Neighboring town's fundraiser has help from Hopkinton police and lots of volunteers.

The Ashland Lions Triathlon has gone on for so many years nobody was exactly sure Sunday how many years it has been. "It's up in the teens somewhere," Lions volunteer Roland Houle said as he yelled encouragement to Hayden Rowe Street bicyclists coming up to Hopkinton Town Common, where Officer Phil Powers halted traffic while they rounded onto East Main Street. The fundraiser for Lions' charities, especially eye research, and its programs for seniors and the schools, drew a huge crowd, rain and cold or no. Doug Kennedy, a professor at Virginia Weslyan University, was in Middletown, CT for a Boy Scout conference and came up for the day to race in the swimming, biking and running event.
