On the article Officials: No Alternative to Ward Park for Senior Center
Neil Licht

ReplyOK so we will get a half finished center that requires a future build out? We all know that future build out means no funding to do so and it never happens!!
Northborough is exceedingly functional on one level. Why are we being so stubborn on that cite if can not meet needs as built? Whats the reasoning behind a new build that can not meet the needs unless we spend more later on to complete the 2nd floor. And elevator-Its mandatory for seniors use so why is ikt even a question of maybe build it.
I'm not criticizing the chosen site, I'm wondering, Why even bother to build this then if its obsoleted as a long term usable facility even before its built???
Anyone else wondering that same thing?
Remember, this is a center not a senior housing space that our entire community will use or could use. Spending cash wisely means get it right the first time doesn't it?

On the article Chart: Compare Emergency Room Wait Times
Neil Licht
1:08 pm on Monday, March 18, 2013
ReplyVery misleading. The stats don't reflect the av ER patient loads served nor staff on hand to do so and compare that.
That's the real story re wait times so how about you stop posting stats as stats and instead put the meaning, reasons comparisons behind those stats.
Then we all have something valuable and usable.

ReplyI'd advise completing your web site NOW and also posting the menu NOW. Currently, the web page although it says coming soon, uses a visual that looks like you are serving Pizza. Thats really not a differentiating and inviting "message" for you v other restaurants already here.
The patch publicity will cause searching about you. Done right, those tools will help you acquire paying customers quickly.

On the article McDonald's Sales Down: Are You Part of the Reason?
Neil Licht

ReplyFrankly, the food tastes good but I have come to prefer a good sub to McDonalds and their ilk. Subs are now priced well and can offer a satisfying meal plus, they are a lot less fatty and, at least to me, seem a bit more healthy. Notice, thats a perception on my part, not a clear scientific fact that motivates me.
I'm wondering if how I'm thinking is widespread? If it is then McDonalds will continue to see market share wane.

On the article Snow Spending Tops $1.2 Million for the Year

Reply1. The city has done a beyond excellent job in managing the snow in all of our snowfalls, blizzard included so lets start with all of us residents having seen how well that expense was managed-Exceedingly well.
2. We live in New England where it can snow 8 months of the year. Why are we always under budgeted when we all know its a predictable expense and a necessary expense. -
On the article Will You Boycott Businesses That Avoid Paying Employee Health Insurance?
Neil Licht
4:02 pm on Saturday, January 12, 2013
ReplyBefore deciding, have you any idea of what covering employees for health care costs????
Its astounding. Have you ever run a business and tried to make a profit at it?If you don't know the answer to that then shut up because you don't know how badly this has effected any business.
The problem was not health care coverage it was and still is runaway healthcare bills and costs at the care provider level and the drug maker level.
Thats the issues we did not address and its what will continue to kill us re insurance rates and costs.
How about we do something about the $1000 aspirin in a hospital or the $3000 per shot cancer treatment. As usual, we go and hurt the small businesses and blame business as the culprit.

On the article ZBA: Marlborough Needs a City Planner

Chrissy - How will you make your own suggestions actually happen? Its a great idea re the regroup-refocus but what has stopped us in the past is nobody making the idea into a reality. How would you do that?
Folks, what citizen groups exist now? Does anyone have a list, way to learn more, way to join in?
That surely would be quite helpful re forging alliances around common interests so "we the people" could help make things happen here in marlborough.

ReplyPlanning must reflect the moves and directions desired by our citizens. How does that get accomplished?
Perhaps we should continue to rely on organized citizens to guide us. The downtown villiage group has done that quite well. Adding another level of paid "expert" might help us with the technicals for accurately assessing what adding the required services and its impact, cost might be but the "community" in which we all live has been better served by citizen involvement.
We have had umpteen city planning public sessions, untold number of master plans now sitting on some shelf somewhere all sponsored by our local government. None of that ever led to implementation of anything actually. Citizens discussing and pushing for change has led to action however.
If you have joined into the various citizen groups you see that it works and that it gets changes that reflect us citizens. Forget the city planner and its beaurocracy because it seems never to have worked here.
Maybe its time to act as if we are a town and let the Townies decide what we want to plan for and make happen in much the way an annual town meeting does.

Are you sure that's illegal? Do you have a handle on the legalities, what it takes to run and be profitable in a restaurant business. Please elaborate re the illegal issue. Secondly, please prove your statement of how they buy. You can not make those accusations unless you can back them up. And no, I dont have any affiliation with Fish except as an occasional customer.
The price a restaurant sets for its dinners is their business. They don't "resell" the fish, they prep it, cook it, serve an entire dinner around it so stop "resell" approach please. If the price is "wrong" for you, then dont go there. If the price is wrong for most people, the restaurant goes out of business. Its sort of self regulating isn't it.
